Darryl also will show the use of vacuum pressing to form laminations... such as this curved window jam and a large, curved stairway stringer.

An important part of vacuum veneering shapes is to understand the pressures exerted and how to create efficient, economical forms.

He reviews different methods of forms and discusses bracing requirements as well as thickness of bending ply used in the form surface.

In addition to more traditional wood support forms, Darryl shows how construction foam can be used. He also demonstrates how an internal air bladder can be the best internal support at times.

Another critical part of veneering shapes is to select the correct glue. Darryl reviews different types of glues. He discusses why he selects different glue for different project requirements.

As the first project, Darryl starts by creating a form for vacuum veneering a curved panel door. He will use the vacuum and the form to pull down the bending ply top. In this video, each step is shown in entirety starting with the gluing.
