In
looking at several routers I owned, I see they all stop about 1/2" short of touching
the base. For standard plunge operations, there is no need to go further.
For use in the table, I had to make up for the thickness of the Rout-R-Lift
which meant cutting the router's guide post down by 1/2".
This router is dedicated to table operation and will not be used for manual
plunging, so it seems alright to make this modification.

I feel like I am hacking up a great
router by using a saber saw on the post. I would have preferred to remove the post and
place it in a vise, but I couldn't remove the nut that held the post in the body, so I
made the cut manually.

The cutting went pretty smoothly.
Here I use 600 grit paper to smooth the burrs from the cut rod.

The operation was a
total success. The bit that use to be 1/8" too low, is now a happy 3/8" high.
With the bit properly seated, I can now adjust the bit to any height I need.
Well that ends this chapter of building the SuperStation. As you can tell, it
will not only be a work in progress, but it will also be with whatever mistakes and
miscalculations I make as I go.
This week the Incra TS III fence comes in so I am now starting some
components that I can make before its arrival.
Hope to see you next week.
