      She can now start cutting the slots for the biscuits.

    The slot cutter cuts the correct depth for a number 20 biscuit, but the slot has to be elongated slightly. In the picture at the left, the right hand side is where Beth started the plunge — she carefully pushed the mark towards the right hand side of the bearing. Once the piece is plunged to the bearing, she simply moves the board to the left until her mark is at the left side of the bearing. Then, she can ease the piece away from the bit and advance it to the next mark.

     With the slots cut, Beth can start gluing up the panels.

   She fits the biscuits in their slots.

    She clamps the first panel. Two more to go.

    And her last panel. We will quit at this point and start the dovetailing next time.

  I will tell you that she had a chance to use the Akeda Jig for the first time and she proudly displays a perfect through dovetail. The step-by-step of this and the 22" wide dovetails will be in the next update.
