Project - "Making a Blanket Chest using the New Jessem router table and the Akeda Dovetail Jig"

On the back, cutting side, Beth aligns the side with the base board — this way she will route away the end piece to match the sides.

She tightens the clamp holding the back side to the ClampIt and can guide the tall assembly through the cutter.

She has placed the one section on the work table and is dry fitting to see how tight the joints will be.

The dry fit looks very good, so Beth uses the rubber mallet to lightly tap the side up and off. She puts it aside with the piece towards her so that she can assemble them in the very same order.

Having assembled one dovetail corner before, Beth knows that it is important to spread a thin coat of glue over all the joint.

With careful aligning and light tapping, Beth is able to assemble the side to both end pieces.

She has flipped the chest over so that she can clamp the side. In that the tails and pins are proud of   the surface, she uses some scrap to apply clamping pressure right above the tail area.

It didn't take her long to realize that a lot of clamps are needed.

An hour later and Beth checks the glued up sections. She uses a square to see how the sections are — perfect.

Beth thinks that her blanket chest is looking good. Next time, we will glue/biscuit the sections together; cut the bottom curved apron/leg pattern; and make the bottom shelf and top — a lot to do, but it is coming fine.
