This week,
Elena starts out by creating a simply jig to cut toe kick cut-outs. She
first draws lines where the toe kick should be cut. Then she places the
jigsaw on these lines, as if to start the cuts. Instead, she marks the
outside of the base and then uses the speed square to draw these lines.

You could say, why have a jig when it is
so easy to mark and then cut? A reasonable question but if I have 16
cabinets to make, anytime I can create a jig to help, I will do so.
Elena has a couple of scrap pieces of MDF that she has glued
together using the CA Gel and accelerator. 30 seconds later and it is
holding. Great for making jigs.

She adds a small block at both ends of
the "L" so that it will fit exactly on the panel to be notched.

Elena holds the jig in place and makes
her cut. She simply guides the jigsaw against the jig. She does this in both
directions. One minute later she has a toe kick notched out.

And we have a new jig. Nothing worth
bragging about, but a nice jig to use.
