Cabinetmaking — "Elena Starts Out"

She supplies power to the saw by rotating the switch to "auto". (And yes, that is real sawdust there. We have been very busy.)

She makes the cut by gently pushing the saw on the guide rail. Her left hand keeps the blade plunged as she progresses.

With a bit of a reach, Elena can finish the 49" cut by merely stretching out. Her right hand can keep the trigger depressed and the saw plunged. The guide rail keep the saw on track.

With her first cut completed, she places the plunge saw back on its Systainer atop the dust collector. This keeps it safe. Note how well the boom works to keep the vacuum hose and power cord out of the way.

I have added the red line to indicate the next cuts Elena will make. She only has to move the cutoff slightly so that there is a 2 to 3" space between the panels. This allows for the entire panel to be cut into pieces without much lifting of the individual pieces.

She carefully measures out and marks just one point this time.

This time she is using the guide rail that the angle unit is attached to.  I have shown her the trick to using it, which is nothing more than placing the angle unit against the bottom edge of the workpiece and then lowering the rail. This method is best because once the guide rail is down, it isn't budged easily — and that is good..

She double checks the guide rail and angle unit just to be sure. It is right on.

And she makes the cut. Look how nicely the boom works. It gives her enough hose and power cord to work even from this extreme edge, but keeps them both from being caught. It is one nice addition to the Festool System.

She uses the panel she just cut to mark the next panel to be cut. Both sides will be exact matches that way.

She makes this cut. This whole process of individual cuts takes so little time and is seemingly effortless. And note, there is almost no dust to be seen. We are using the Festool TS 55 and the cover plate (491 750) is also installed. Very little dust gets out.

Elena uses the Woodpecker square corner clamps to dry fit the pieces so far.
We will have to quit here. My PC's memory management program is playing havoc with me. I will try to straighten that out this coming week. And we will pickup with Elena at that time.
