Andrea starts the assembly of the boom
arm by placing the parts on the table and getting an idea of what is what.

The first task is to attach the spreader
feet to the bottom legs. The completed boom arm can be top heavy and easily
tipped, so the outrigger feet need to be employed. When the boom is over the
vacuum, they can be tucked in and against the dust collector.
She fastens the leg to the handle.

And the same with the upper connector.
Andrea has that look of success, but
there is still more to assemble.
There are a number of black clamps and
Andrea found that when she matched up the looks of them with the
schematic, she could locate them faster.
She inserts the first section of the
boom assembly into the bracket on the dust collector.
She adds another connector to anchor the
boom arm to the handle.
She has added the top boom assembly. It
simply slides into the lower section and then she adds a screw and hand knob
to hold it in place and keep it from rotating out of control.
To those people who are wondering how to assemble the boom to fit
into a truck, it is probably by breaking the connection here separating the
units.
With the help of a step stool, Andrea
can fit the final arm into the previous section.
She inserts the tip of the larger vacuum
hose that comes with the boom.
