She now starts the "roll up". She uses the cabinet scraper as the first edge guide and places the first section in place on the 2" masking tape.

With the six sections tacked in place on the masking tape, Maureen can now roll up the assembly.

The completed box looks good, so now Maureen can unroll the assembly and apply glue to each of the miters.

While she doesn't want too much glue, she is careful to spread the glue over all the miter surfaces.

Once again she rolls up the assembly, but this time it is for good.

While the masking tape could be used to hold the assembly while the glue dries, Maureen uses a latex tourniquet to add more tension. These latex strips are available at medical supply houses. They are extremely useful for tasks such as this.

While the glue is drying on the new box, Maureen studies the instructions for using the new buffing kit from Beall Tools. It consists of three buffing wheels and three buffing compounds (actually the third bar is solid carnuba wax.)

She is mounting the first wheel on a Delta bench grinder motor. The buffing kit comes with a shaft adapter.

She charges the first wheel with a bit of the first compound.

Now she can buff each side of the box. A soft touch is all that is required.

Maureen has removed the first wheel and has placed the second wheel on the motor. She charges it with the white compound—the second step in the whole buffing process.
It takes only a few seconds to buff the 6 sides with each compound.

She has switch to the final wheel and has charged that wheel with the carnuba wax. A light touch is all that is required.

And she is done. While it might seem that there is a lot of work to change the three wheels, it is really very quick. Each wheel is used only with the corresponding compound or wax.
This buffing system proved to be ideal for polishing the curved surfaces and without burning through any of the edges.

Maureen shows the finished box. Next week, she will be back and will finish it by adding a top and finishing the inside.
We hope you like this project. It was certainly fun to do.
