I drop in the taller of the two bits. This bit has a center bearing and is topped by a rabbeting cutter.
You can see that I really like changing bits without removing the router. This, thanks to the bent wrench and the remote controlled shaft lock. If you didn't read last week's report which explains this neat system, be sure to switch over there now. Click here.

I set the fence to be flush with the bearing. I was planning to move it forward and make several passes in this hard oak, but it wasn't necessary. The bit cut smoothly in one pass.

I clamped two feather boards to hold the stock against the fence.

The CMT bit handles the hard white oak very well. It cuts a very clean profile and rabbet.

I go to the table saw to miter the ends. Remember that the long pieces are 50".  I wanted to see if I could use the Incra Miter Gauge with its 27" fence on such a long board. It worked and it worked perfectly.

The four corners are as square and tight as can be.
