And put the fences in place adjusting them so that there is about a
1/8" gap between the bit and the fence.

Use the crossfeed
crank and move the bit until it is even with fence. This is zero crossfeed [c]
setting.

Then turn crossfeed 11 turns clockwise
(cw) and lock crossfeed. [We are doing this "by the book." The instruction
manual provides discussion of how these setting are computed.]

Place stops on
fence and make one cut. Since this is dovetail bit, be sure to keep leg flat on
table and against the fence. A firm grip on the push stick will do the job.

The second cut must be made from the other direction. Move the
stop block and place it on the other fence and make the cuts. Caution: working from
this direction requires extra care. The cutter movement wants to push the leg away from
the fence. To ensure a good, straight cut, keep good pressure on the push block and cut
slowly. We have added a finger board to give additional help.
The legs are now done.
